Hello,

My 1940 1/2 ton with 216, went over a few bumps. The gas gauge went dead then she stalled. I lifted the hood, pushed in the coil and plug wires and she started right up. The gas gauge then read normal.

What happened, I would like to fix so it doesn't happen again.

Thank you.

I'm not real familiar with the wiring for your truck, but it sounds like the wire that feeds voltage to your gas gauge is in the same circuit as the wire that feeds your coil, and something came loose when you hit the bump. I'd check for loose connections or a pinched wire somewhere under the hood. Trace the hot wire back from the coil and see what it leads to.
