Is there any way to adjust the stearing to tighten it up?

When I go down the road there is alot of free play in the wheel. I'd like to find a way to reduce that atleast a little bit. Its going to be temporary until I can swap in a new front suspension but I'd like to drive for the time being.

Yes, there is an adjustment on the steering. Here is the manual page describing how the adjustments are made. There are also adjustments possible on the tie rods and drag link, which are described here.

I had the same problem. I did the adjustments as suggested in the link provided. I removed freeplay in the gear box and adjusted the toe in and the difference was incredible. After a while, some of the freeplay came back. I've been told I likely have worn components in the gear box. But if you do as suggested in the manual, it should make a world of difference. It's a good idea to get under there while someone moves the wheel back and forth so you can see if anything is loose.

Thanks for the help. I'll be getting it up on the lift a week from saturday and I'll hopefully get it all tightened up.

You'll want to check for slop in your tie rods and other joints in the steering as well, but most likely it's the steering box that has the slop.

Thanks for the advice! My steering is fixed and now it feels safer to drive.
