Hi,
I'm really just getting started on this resto and haven't figured out where o turn for help most of the time. Is there a company out there that makes reproduction lenses for turn signals and clearance lights. Original's were glass bowls.

Thanks Spanky,
But no cigar. They have tails and etc but no clearance or front turn tear-drops. So my quest goes on.

jr.,What type of clearance lights do you have. I have many clearance lights, & lens myself. Do you have a picture you can post.

Sorry, my digital camera took a pavement dive.
So I can't doo pic.s for a while.

On top of the headlights there were teardrop shaped turn signal lights. The metal part (one of which is missing) was about a foot long. At the front of this was a small frosted glass bowl about 1.25 inch wide, 1.75 inch tall and 2 inch long. I have only shattered shards of broken glass. My clearence lights are in similar state of decay. One lens survives plus broken pieces of amber glass. There were 3. The metal parts were in two pieces. a base with the socket on it and a teardrop top part. Over all size was about 7 inches long and 3 wide. There lenses were larger than turn signals and quite heavy.
I've seen similar in pics posted by others. I'll find one of these and refer to it if I can.

jr., See if you can find a name on the top metal piece you have. I think I may have the lenses you need.

Thats Great! I was loosing hope.
The (sole surviving) turn signal tin is blank.
The clearance light tins are stamped KD 517
There's something more in front of that but I can't quite make it out. Maybe 1-D124018 or something like that. Sound familiar?

O.K. jr., I think I my have what you need. I'll double check tommorrow, when I get out to the shop. You need just the lens right?. 3 of them, the top tins with KD 517 are o.k.? Are the tins chrome, or painted.

Spanky,
Yes. the metal parts are all intact. The lenses are shattered and the rubber (or leather) gaskets below them are fried (of course). If there was any rubber around the lens itself, that's all gone too. But the metal is good.

Mine is an early 1945. As far as I can tell it never had ANY chrome. Not even on window cranks and such. It was clearly made for work and made in a time of patriotic self sacrifice. With that in mind, it seems almost disrespectful to its history and to the WW-II era in general to put any chrome on it. (my personal soap box. Sorry)
