Hi guys,
Another wiring harness question.

We're left now with the horn button. We have a tan wire with a female bullet connector. Right now it's with some other wires that go to the taillights, but it's not in the cab yet.
Question, where does the horn to horn button wire enter through the firewall/into the steering column?

The wire is also clearly not long enough to make it to the horn button. The original horn button wire is still in the steering column, but I'd like to replace that and clean contacts, etc, but I don't think our harness came with the extension wire from the female bullet connector to horn button(?).

A little stymied here, any ideas?

Also, any idea on how to remove the horn button to access the wire?

Thanks in advance! Hopefully she'll be up and running this weekend.

does your kit provide for a horn relay?

to get to the horn wire you have to remove the bearing mast.

get a thin blade screw drive and pry up the bronze looking bearing from side to side.

make sure you remove the wire clip at the bottom of the column

Nothing in the kit mentions a horn relay.
Where does the horn wire enter through the firewall?

The wire that's in the harness is too short to make it to the button and it has a female bullet connector on it, but there's no other wire with a male bullet connector to go to it.

Would the kit not provide that jump of wire from the female bullet connector to the horn button?

A wire is still in the steering column, not original, and it has a spade connector at the end of it popping out of the hole in the steering column near the bottom.

Also, our clip isn't there, it's just a hole.

There was no horn relay with a standard single horn until maybe 1953 or certainly 1954. Accessory dual horns came with a relay that was used with the standard single horn in 1954 (and maybe with he single seashell-style horn in 1953).

We may have a problem here. I'm really confused. The two wires coming off the horn go into the harness that pops through the firewall (same spot in the picture you sent)
But for some reason, there's a labeled horn wire bundled in with a separate part of the harness along with the tail light connection wires.

I'm lost here....

Figured it out! I peeled back the tape on the "20" wire, that's actually 26. Full tank sender.
Found the horn wire tucked up in the rats nest near the gauge cluster.

New question. That horn wire with the female bullet connector just reaches the hole in the steering column. Our harness doesn't appear to have come with the jumper wire from the hole in the steering column to the horn button. I'm not sure if we're missing it, or did the company just assume that the wire in the steering column from the button was there and usable? Good thing our wire is still in the steering column.
Also, we're missing the clip that is mentioned, it's just a hole in the column. Can a new clip be purchased or is that not necessary?

I'm guessing the same deal with the sender wire. I guess they're saving us the trouble of having to remove the steering wheel or the seat, right?

Sorry to take up everyones time, I should have looked closer...Next issue will probably be the turn signal switch wiring, so stay tuned. Thanks again. Have a good night.

yes,
you'll have to make jumpers
my kit came with spare lengths of wires

purple, blue and orange. and connectors.
I have not seen the column clip for sale, but i haven't looked either. try posting in the parts wanted section,

I would pull the bearing mast and check the condition of the wire. Or at least do a continuity check with a meter.
