Thought I crawl under my 66 and try and back off the rear shoes. The rear brakes are dragging real bad and i'd like to pull the drums off. I can't move the adjusters at all to loosen things up. I think I'm in trouble....any suggestions?
Thanks

Hy 57NAPCO, adjusters can be a real bear at times, have you tried a punch and hammer through the adjuster hole, sometimes the shock of hammer blows will break them free. You could also try using a puller on the hub, pull against the end of the axle tube, but protect the end of the tube. Pulling in this way will definately ruin something, but short of torching an access hole to deal with the stuck adjusters, sometimes it is the only way to get things apart. One other thing you might try is, unbolt the wheel cylinders from the backing plate, and knock them into the brake drum, this may allow the shoes to collapse enough to allow the drum to come off, hope that helps, and good luck!

I had the same problem with my 66 with a t150 rear you have to insert a small screw driver into the hole to move the adjuster lever away from the adjuster star and while holding it away use a brake spoon to the loosen the adjuster.

The light comes on for me !!

When looking thru the slot I could swear I saw a peice of metal to the back of the adjustment star. I was pushing it around with a screwdriver and wondering what it was?

You guys are the best !!!!
