I jumped into the Paint section with my first post, guess I should've come here first? I'll repeat myself here a little. Learned to drive at 8 in my Dad's '52 3/4t 5 window. I was too short to clutch, so he did that for me initially. Got my own '50 AD 1/2t 3 window in 1966 @ 16 and painted it canary yellow! Sold it to by my new snowmobile and wished I had it back ever since! So last weekend I was out for a bike ride and saw this 1/2t sitting toward that back of this guys yard and bought it! So now begins the journey! It seems this is a GREAT bunch of folks! Leo, in answer to the condition question...I'd say it's a 53-50. It's a 53 that at about 50 ft. looks pretty good. I know it has it's fair share of bondo and riveted in place patches in the floorboards, etc. I think it's pretty solid above the "rust line". If money were no object I'd probably buy at least two front fenders...but money IS an object. I'm gathering info here and elsewhere and still developing my strategy. I'm not a hot-rodder. Just want a daily driver. Not a huge motorhead. I'd be perfectly happy with a vehicle that would start well, run well and get down the road with good brakes, etc. So far it does all the above, but a bit roughly. Short of having to replace the back window and finish the exhaust all the way to the back (currently flex tubing over the rear axle!) and replace the rotted bed wood, etc. etc.
I'm thinking I'll need to get the box and cab off of the frame to truly assess where I'm at. I understand that doing this half-way is a little like being a little pregnant. You kind of have to dive in and get it decent...or end up doing it over again.
I guess time will tell. | | |
