Wiper switch short?

The previous owner of my 64 installed SunPro gauges - gas/temp/oil psi/volts. All of these seem to be working fine. However whenever I flip the switch to run my wipers (one speed) the gauge (except the oil which is mechanical) needles kick back to the far left. Once the wipers are off, they're fine again. Any ideas? I'm not that informed about electrical stuff so any advice will be appreciated!

Just a wild guess, but it sounds like a bad ground...try running a jumper wire from the wiper motor to a known good ground and see what happens....good luck

Obviously. It appears you have the common misconception that any electrical problem is a 'short'. If it were a 'short' it would blow a fuse or burn a wire.

Info about electricity is available on the web. My advice is do some studying if you want to work on electrical problems.

Sounds like a ground problem to me, too.
