Hi all,

Some 30 odd years ago I was a volunteer member of the Shasta County Fire Department. Located at Shasta Lake, Lake Head California.

At that time most of the trucks were getting old. I drove a 1953 Ford Fire Truck, it had a Ford industrial engine for power and 2 separate pumps, 1 500GPM Suction/Pressure Pump and a Meyers 3 cylinder piston high pressure pump 1500PSI. With a 1 inch hose and big old chrome rifle nozzle.

When I left I held the rank of Captain.

At that time we also had a White 1950 GMC 450 0r 470 Open Cab Fire Engine. That old GMC was passed around to various volunteer fire companies throughout Shasta County.

Back then CDF (California Department of Forestry) was in charge of Shasta County volunteer fire service.

I am thinking of trying to track it down, if it still exists.

I have a cousin that lives in Oxnard CA, he has an old American LaFrance parked on the street in front of his house. He pays his neighbors bribe money not to complain...LOL.

Anyway I been thinking about that old White 1950 GMC open cab fire engine.
