My Suburban was delivered with no transmission or bell. There is a Craigs List seller in my town selling a 47 truck 3 speed transmission. Will it work with the 235? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | 1947 three speeds were floor shift and the trans is shorter. If the torque tube comes with it it will fit. The 47 torque tube is longer to make up for the shorter trans. 1948-54 will be a direct fit.

One advantage of the 4:11 rear end is that the ring gear carrier works with the 3.55 ring and pinion conversion (if you ever want to o the conversion). An earlier carrier can be used in the 1954 3.90 rear end, if you want to do the 3.55 conversion
