19 June 2012, added first photo, this was taken in late July of 1973, on my parents farm in North Dakota. That's me on the combine next to our '53 GMC 2 ton This is what having a truck is all about, that connection to the farm that I grew up on. Here are some pic's of my truck, http://s1148.photobucket.com/albums/o576/1Plowboy/?start= all these were taken only minutes after getting it home, it does look better after a wash. I purchased it from a fellow who bought it at a storage auction, so there isn't a lot of history to go with it. The drive home was about 60 miles, it ran great, felt very good on the road ect. The numbers on the odomiter are very faded, beleive them to be 2?735. That's right, less than 30,000 miles, the color is still on the steering wheel with no black showing through, the front end is very tight, doesn't wander on the road at all, no rust through that I've found. Hope to restore close to original as possible with some changes. I'd like to make a dually pickup out of it similar to these: http://www.stovebolt.com/gallery/hagopian_wayne_1946.html, and http://www.stovebolt.com/gallery/maher_shawn_1946.html I am a woodworker and plan to do a plywood mockup of the bed before having bedsides fabricated and fenders added. That's a winter project, after new windows and more on the house. (Had to cut a deal with the wife to get the truck.) Best part of that is she likes the truck!

Hello and welcome to Stovebolt. This about the best un-restored AD I have ever seen! I live on Vashon Is. and I know a guy who has your trucks twin sister. My truck is a 53 half ton. A lot to do, but it is getting there. It's good to see another northwest member. Keep us posted.

Plowboy, welcome to the stovebolt. It looks like you have found yourself one nice truck. Good luck and let us know how we can help. I love the flat bed and dual wheels.

Update... After a couple of years with not enough progress we (wife and I) made the choice to send the truck out to a shop. I had roughed out what I wanted and had parts in place to fabricate the bed as I wanted but not enough time to complete it. I am fortunate to have a job that pays well but is to demanding of my time after 8 hours everyday. Having worked 260 plus hours of overtime from Jan 1 to June 30 left little time to work on the truck so off to the shop it went. I have it back now and am very pleased with the results though it's not done yet but back on the road. See the gallery listing to get a look at updated pic's.

Plowboy, we all use many ways to get our trucks running and enjoyable. I think you made a great choice and your at least back on the road. Thanks for keeping us updated. You'll get it, just keep plugging away and let us know if we can help.

Oh and far as OVERTIME, I know what you mean I put 500 to 700 a year on average.
