Checked the generator and it's fine. It's been upgraded to 12 volts sometime in the past. Regulator doesn't look like the points are fried... but lately the regulator makes a loud tapping noise and the amp guage ticks to the negative both at idle and under power. Any thoughts?

I tried to look where he says- "Luke ..48 Chevy 1-ton , 54 GMC , 52 2-ton and70,71,72 chevy3/4 4x4`s" and can find nor reference to Old Stovebolts there-LOL. but I would still have the regulator and generator checked-LOL

Swapped out the regulator and battery this weekend and things are back to "normal"... at least the battery is charging now. Now on to rewiring to get rid of all those bare wires and electrical tape splices everywhere! Boswell
