i was wondering if there is supposed to be a gasket where the top of the fender meets the cab, ahead of the door and before hood? see area circled in red below:

fender to cab

the rubber sets available don't include a gasket here, however i looked at a 55.2 and there was some sort of seal here. another 'bolter is going to look at his truck for me as well.

thanks

Yes there is, it's a foam like rubber that glues to the cab and stops wind noise from getting to the front of the door.
Here is what I used on my '59.

thanks Darren, i have that gasket - it runs vertically along the fender reinforcement on the backside where it meets the cab. I am wondering about that short horizontal section 8-10" across at the very top of the fender at the cowl.

Yes there is a 1/8 thick gasket glued on there and it came in my set when I ordered it. LMC or cassic I forget what came from where. Any thin strip would do. It keeps the two surfaces from rubbing. 30 lb felt even.

see FP804 here, you want the short pieces shown which aren't available separate, but easy enough to make yourself out of thin dense foam .... those 'seals' can help avoid any metal rub squeeks

CASO and Bill - yes, i got that pair in the kit from LMC. as you can see in the picture in the first post of this thread, it seems to show this seal/gasket as going between the fender and the fender extension at the front.. so that is where i put it before i riveted those together. now that my fender is on, i think i will shove some foam in the opening - i don't want to take my fender off for that.

thanks for the response

It was glued to the cab and the fender covered it when mounted, on my 58 GMC.
