Although I remember reading GM switched from steel camshafts to cast iron cams in the 6's around 1955, and the cast cam is supposed to use a different gear.I used to modify later 250 Chevy 6 HEI distributors for use in 235-261 or GMC engines,I've kinda forgotten, but I believe the 250 gear worked fine on the old 6's.You can buy a whole distributer on Ebay, they show up from time to time or search the Swap meet here on Stovebolt, there a few guys on there that have a supply of distributors. | | |
