19?? gmc coe stored inside last 25 years. almost all here. very little rust.

722=720 Series

This will be a 1939-1948 model, 136" wheelbase, 14" clutch, 426 engine.

There should be an ID number stamped on the frame or written in chalk, on the passenger side, directly behind the front spring perch.

TAG SAYS 128 H.P. INLINE 6 SINGLE BARREL UP DRAFT CARB

It looks likes a 31 following the serial number on the ID plate which would also indicate a 1941 model year.

314 indicates a 1947 model year.

According to the Master Parts Book, there may be a plate attached to the engine on the drivers side with details including engine serial number, bore, stroke and cylinders.

Yes. That truck is one of the largest available Road Tractors GMC made at the time. It would be called a 5 1/2 ton or more if memory serves me.

The 426 in the serial number confirms it is a 426 engine.

Is it worth more then scrap? I dont see many old trks out there.

It's worth a hell of a lot more than scrap. COE's are difficult to find and the road tractors are even harder, plus the pics look like it is in great shape.

WOW !, That's "AWESOME". You can always tell the later '46-'49 Heavy Duty COE's from the earlier ones, by the hood. The later '46-'49, have a split two piece grille, with a "alligater" hood, while the earlier one's have a one piece grille, with two access doors, instead of a opening hinged hood. That 720 series would be around a 6, or 6 1/4 ton.

Why are these dang things always on the wrong coast? You never see anything like that around here. Nice truck!

Scott,I've always thought the same thing. You don't find the '47-'54 450, & 470 series COE's on the East Coast either. In the 26, or 27 years, that i've been collecting COE's, i've only found one 450, or 470 series COE in North Carolina, & one in Virginia. The one in North Carolina was a '53 model that had been damaged badly, & the one in Virginia was tied up in an Estate. I found the 450 you have in Indiana, & the 470 I now have, came from Washington State.

Spanky, they got so many nice trucks out there that they consider scraping them!! Just kidding David, but that is an awesome truck. I would snatch it up in a second.

my last thought is to scrap this truck!! sounds like most are collected back east. can anybody give me some kind of value. I work at a trucking co.ANYTHING CAN BE SHIPPED!! We turned the motor, not froze. NEEDS TO GO TO SOMEONE WHO WILL SHOW IT SOME LOVE. EVEN IF THE BOSS ONLY GET'S SCRAP VALUE. THAT'S MY THINKING. dont know if the boss is on the same page

If I had the time and coin, I would buy that thing in a heartbeat.

Prices are hard to define. Having a clear title is a must, but if you find the right person it would sell anyways. I think I paid around 4K total, delivered, across 2600 miles or so for my '47.1

One thing to think on is that the gross vehicle weight of 30K requires a CDL to drive. The condition looks amazing from just the few pics and those fenders are probably some of the best I've seen.

I hope it finds a great home and isn't butchered by some 'car hauler'...

it does have air brakes. I dont know if truck runs. it's been stored for last 25 + years in a trl. radiator is not in. motor turns that's all i know. i think its all here. no back window!! very minor rust. all dash pane1,gauges,glass shift spliter, everything is still good in the dash. plaque is there

That truck looks very much like one listed on ebay last fall, it was near San Francisco. He had it listed as a '39 GMC if I remember correctly.

I dont know, but I think Mr Marlow needs a big brother for his 46, with the same color scheme!

As stated, I would love to have it and do just that. The problem is the distance between where it it and where I am. You would have a lot of money in it as soon as you back it in the garage the first time by the time you paid the shipper.

It's nice, but I finally found the style, & series I was looking for, when I found my '52 model, air brake 470 series GMC COE. It's actually alittle more "Rare" than this one. It was located in Washington State, but I was able to find an inexpensive ride for it to the East Coast.

i found out trk was used by the forest service, that is why color is Yellow w/ Gray fenders. old color's back in the day??

I don't think a CDL would be required as long as it is registered as a antique. CDL is for Commercial vehicles. In the wieght class on my 38 Registration it has NA. You would be best to read your states rules. There used to be allowences to drive a bobtail commecial vehicle on a car license but that may have changed, you couldn't pull a trailer and you couldn't drive a unladen straight truck.I hope someone saves this truck

Hy davidVAL, do you have a clear title for the truck? You mentioned the radiator is not in place, do you have it? My vote is also to sell the truck complete (not that I have a vote), I just would like to see it kept together.

remember that an old truck is worth is what a buyer will pay take the 5thou before that person comes to their senses and you have to 'sell it complete' to the scrapper for a few hundred

In CO, anything weighing more than 26,000 requires a CDL, farm tags exempt, however, no out of state, not more than 150 miles from home, don't know how well this is enforced.

i do have radiator. only thing i know is missing is back window. have no paperwork????
