Here is what's left of the air injector reactor system that was factory-installed on my '69 C-10 with an L6 250. The pump and hoses are gone and the air manifold is capped off. I could cut off and crimp the individual exhaust taps, but would like an engineered solution. Does anyone know of a mod kit for sale to eliminate the manifold?

If the air injector tubes are held in by gland nuts like the small block V-8's were, just heat the nuts with a torch to break the rust loose, unscrew the nuts and remove the tubes. Then thread the holes for 1/4" pipe plugs. I've done hundreds of them that way. It's a quick, one-time fix that will last the life of the manifold. It only takes about 2 turns of the pipe tap to make the thread fit a plug. If you use Allen-socket pipe plugs, they don't stick up above the surface of the manifold.

Jerry, I'm thinking ¼" plugs shuld be easy enough to find, but what size exactly do I need the tap to be? And I need a pipe tap, right? Not a bolt tap?

You'll need a 1/4" NPT (National Pipe Thread) tap. They're available in just about any hardware store or Home Depot, etc. Don't go more than 2 or 3 threads deep into the existing threads in the manifold, just enough to get the tapered plug started. The plugs will self-tighten as you screw them in.

A professional-level auto parts store like NAPA, etc. should have the Allen-socket pipe plugs in stock. They're the same kind that are used to plug oil galleries during an engine rebuild. The parts store will also have the tapered tap, I'm sure.

Jerry, should I be concerned with metal shavings from the tap falling into the block?

Nope, they'll go right down the exhaust pipe. Even if a few stay in the exhaust system, no harm, no foul!
