Hi guys,
here's a simple question I'm sure. I have no brake lights on my 41 chevy. One wire is off the pressure switch but when I hook it up...zip! Also, neither wire going to the pressure switch appears to be hot. tail lights work fine. Also the dimmer switch works fine. I'm not sure, but it looks like the brake pressure switch may be tied into the dimmer switch? ohwell Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Your brake light should feed off of an always hot wire from the light switch. Wiring diagram. Looks like it's time to get a multi-meter and do some testing. I would start with the connection at the light switch. Good luck.

Tiny is right on. And, someone may have added a fuse somewhere between the BAT source and the switch; could be open. More likely, old, damaged wire. Get that tester. smile

No power to one side of brake switch? I agree with Tiny amd Casey. Just to repeat the obvious: trace backwards from switch, using Tiny's schematic, to find where hot first appears. You just need a circuit tester. (sharp tipped prong with a bulb and clip sold in many stores) you probably have one. Quickest way: Run a fused/unfused test wire from battery to switch and depress brakes. That will make you feel good and confirm that it's just lack of juice.
