For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 59 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 59 | I need help finding parts to put my parking brake together on my 1950 1/2 ton. I'm not sure of the name of either but they are what the parking brake cable attaches to on both ends. I went to Chevy's of the 40's but they don't have either. One is the clevis end (not the pin which is found anywhere) but the other bracket/part the the cable screws into. The second part is the hold-down bar that is attached to the brake shoe. Any help here? Thanks | | | | | Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 379 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 379 | I've got a bunch of huck stuff sitting around here. I'll take a look to see if any is from the rear axles. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 59 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 59 | Thanks. I know there are a lot of you who have upgraded your brakes and a lot of this is just sitting around taking up valuable space. This is not a request for buying or selling though, right? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 438 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 438 | Go Cougs-
I might have what you need. Check your email. Any chance you're coming east for a reunion? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 59 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 59 | Went to All-American Classics junk yard last night and all the clevis brackets that attach the parking brake cable to the frame were in no better shape that mine. The problem is the threads get destroyed from the rust being they are exposed to the elements. Can you get these at a hardware store? Come on Stovebolters, what have you done to replace these? | | | | | Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 379 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2001 Posts: 379 | Chevy Duty has the new parts you need. Clevis and e-brake rods have been reproduced. The cable brackets are another story.... | | | | | Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 59 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2002 Posts: 59 | What did you look up to find these parts? I tried to find them but couldn't. | | |
