The front jump seat in my '51 burb is just "sort of attached" to the floor. It has been in and out over the years, and I'm trying to find the best/correct way to secure it.

Three of the connections appear to take some kind of bolt through the floor, the front left, front right and rear right.

The rear left has me puzzled. It seems like it might be some kind of stud, as it does not seem to go all the way through the floor. The floor seems to be doubled up in this area as it is near the under seat tool box. This stud is broken off, so the seat leg is just flopping around.

So my questions are:

What kind of bolt/washer/nut is used to attached the seat legs, and do they go up or down?

What is going on with the left rear attaching bolt or stud? can this be replaced? I have thought about trying to spot weld a piece to it.

I just went out and looked at mine.They have nut and bolt and large diameter washers holding them in place.I could not see the left rear bolt coming through the underside of the floor pan.I'm thinking it's in the belly area of the floor pan.Stick your hand through the access area under the drivers seat and see if you can feel it.If you need the mounts,tony at 4-5-6 Chevy trucks has them.They can be used on 1947-1966,tony measured mine and they are exactly the same. jump seat mounting kit

Hey, thanks for the reply. Do the mounting bolts go up from the bottom so that the nut is on top? Or down? Is the large washer under the floor, or are there two?

The mouting brackets on my seat seem to be attached to the legs with large rivets. In the hardware kit you linked to they seem to be attached with bolts. I'm thinking I might retrofit mine for bolts, as it seems like it would be a lot easier to remove the seat.

I'll let you know what I find about that left rear mount.

My bolts go through the top side and the nuts are underneath.The two front mounts have what look to be 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" washers under them and under the truck as well.The two rear mounts have no washers under the mounts but they do under the truck(I can't see the left rear nut).

The mounting brackets have a bushing that slips through the mount,seat frame,then mount,then the bolt is slipped in and tighten the nut.

The floor under my seat was mostly rotted/rusted away in 1971, when I got my Suburban. I had all the mounting hardware, just no floor. My jump seat is now "creatively" attached to the floor-metal, with reinforcement bars underneath.
