I'm about to hang the front fenders on my 56 3100. i am looking at my assembly manual section 11, and it is really tough for me to tell if the top of the (outer) fender sits on top of the inner fender (skirt) or slips underneath it? In other words, for the top of the inner/outer fender interface, which runs under the hood from the radiator back to the cowl and is fastened via a number of bolts, which part sits on top? i thought the outer fender was on top, but i'm no longer sure.

sorry this is so hard to explain in words. maybe if someone has an under-hood picture of this area i can see for myself.

thx

the inner sits on top the flange of the fender, and the bolts thread into the weld nuts on the underside of the fender - the other way round wouldn't work too well wink
