Hello, I replaced the push button starter on my 46 truck (has a 235 engine) with a 6 volt foot starter. My question is how do I wire it. Please see picture labeled New Foot Starter. Which wires go connected to the solenoid? I am guessing the positive battery cable, but there are also a blue cable that is coming from the ignition switch, a yellow cable that is coming from the 6 volt alternator and a thicker cable that is coming from the Gauge Instrument Cluster. There are also two bolts on the end of the starter, does anything go connected there?

Also a question on the coil does the positive connector on the coil go connected to the ignition switch or to the distributor?

Looks like the:
1) ignition switch is connected to the coil positive bolt
2) alternator yellow cable is connected to the coil positive bolt
3) the coil negative bolt is connected to the bolt on the side of the distributor
4) the starter is connected to the Amp Meter.

Do I need to add a Polarity Reverse Switch?

Is there anything I am missing?

Hy mauricioaglr, it looks correct as you have it. Does the yellow wire from the alternator connect to a doide at the alternator, did you install the "DA plug" in the alternator?

Looks to me like the firing order is not correct.

Should be 1,5,3,6,2,4

Thank you for the reply. Yes, there is a DA plug, it was there when I bought the truck.

You don't need a reversing switch with an alternator. Even with a DC generator later models just switched out the condensor value. All the reversing switch did was help the points to last longer.

Can I connect the Yellow cable from the alternator (see picture link below) directly to the starter silenoid? Instead of the positive coil bolt?

Hy mauricioaglr, no you cannot connect the "yellow" wire to the starter, you actually do not have a solenoid any longer, you have a manually closed switch. Connect the "yellow" wire to the coil positive terminal, that way your alternator will be activated to begin charging when the ignition is activated, this will only work if you are using the DA plug which has a diode built into it to prevent the alternator from backfeeding the ignition circuit. If you wired the "yellow wire to the starter terminal (battery) your alternator would be turned on all the time, and would probably drain the battery, hope that helps.
