Wallysdog,
When I need an electric fuel pump for these, I go to my local Car Quest, and ask for a 6 volt, negative ground, universal fuel pump with the lowest delivery pressure. It's usually 5.5 - 9 psi. Any universal will do, but don't buy one meant for fuel injection, with the high pressure. Don't know off-hand what the 235 carb is expecting fuel-pressure-wise, but I'd guess around 3-5. Fuel pump shouldn't run more than $35.00, and can be mounted anywhere convenient, though I think closer to the tank is better.
There's also such a thing as a universal fuel-pressure-regulator, that lets you dial-in the right pressure between like 1 & 9. They're pretty cheesy, and not very accurate (last one I put in tested 1.5 psi higher than the set pressure). But they have their place.
Have to ask: Why electric? Redundancy? Mechanical shot craps & you don't feel like dealing with it? Dealing with a vapor-lock issue?
Just curious . . .
