I am wondering if there is a 5 or 6 speed trans with overdrive that will fit in place of the orginal 4 speed,I have 4:11 gears and am trying to make it more livable as a daily driver.

A T-5 will do the job running a six, but if you load it the trans might be marginal.
The Tremec transmissions are another possibility to look at, and they are pretty stout.
These are all car type transmissions, if you are looking for a truck type, hopefully the next person to respond will give ideas on those.

The is no direct replacement, most trans with an overdrive are going to require a drive shaft modification. I replaced the sm420 in my 63 C20 with a a833 - aka RPO MY6, it's a 4spd, 4th being an OD. I'm hoping the trans will at least pull a car trailer. Chrysler did use the tans in 3/4 ton Dodge trucks. Another popular trans is a T5 out of a Camaro or S-10.
