For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 110 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 110 | I am need of replacingg the 250 out my truck (I lost all compression on the 1st and 2nd cilynder) and was wondering how much sheetmetal do I need to remove to get to it?
Most of the time I see the front clip fully removed but can I get always with removing the front grill, radiator mount and radiator? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 2,393 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 2,393 | Yes, just removing what you suggest should be good enough. It would also help if you raised the front end on jack stands too for added clearance, but that's not required.

So I can get away with just removing the radiator??? and pulling it forward | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | I have pulled a lot of 216s and 235s from those trucks and I only remove the radiator. I also remove the water pump. I also unbolt the bell-housing from the engine and leave it bolted to the cross-member. That leaves the engine short enough to clear as it comes up. Since you have a 250 there may be a slight difference.
