I installed a 3" dropped axle from Sid's in my '49 - 3100.
To clear the springs with out bending the steering arms, I went to my local 4x4 offroad shop. They have tie rod ends with a straight end on them that mounts to the steering arm. Then I had a local machine shop drill out the ball ends to fit the shaft. The next step was to mount the tie rod ends & tie rod under the steering arms. This gives me about 1.5" clearance under the spring.
All together this little mod cost me about $125.00.

| | | | | Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 292 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 292 | i also put new style tie rod ends mounted from the bottom. the problem im having is i put power streering on the teuck and moved the shocks to the rear of the axle and when i tudn the wheels all the way the tie rod hits the shock bracket about a 1/4" before i get to full lock. if my tie rod was about 1" lower it would not hit.with the shape of the willys tie rod end it would clear ill have to investagate a little more and see if i can figure something out. Thanks for the input from you all.
