Hi. Continuing with my rewire on my '59 and I have a quick question about hooking up the sending unit. The Brown Wire goes to the threaded Post on the Sender and the ground wire goes to one of the sender mounting bolts??? There is nothing mentioning this in either the Shop or Assembly Manuals

yes, brown to sender terminal - I don't think the sender originally had an actual ground wire, but adding one from a sender mount screw to the cab wall or floor makes having a good ground a sure thing instead of counting on the tank and straps

+1, gas tanks usually have "pads" between floor and the straps that would prevent a good ground, add a ground wire from sending unit mounting screws to the cab floor to make sure.

Thanks for the reply, thats the conclusion I came up with to. I did install new mounting pads for the gas tank and will have a separate grounding wire going to the sending unit. Thanks again

the bolts that hold the straps to the cab floor provided the ground with the original plated [rather than painted] straps and tank, and the sender screws provide a ground to the tank even tho' the sender is isolated from the tank with a cork gasket
