I have the truck down to the frame, and that is where I will continue this summer. I have experience with body work, but my mechanical knowledge is minimal.
I want to put a 350 chevy in this truck, and thinking about a 4 speed with a 3.73 rear end.
Any tips/suggestions on boxing in the frame, or parts of the frame (near the rear end, tranny supports, etc>) would be appreciated. Also, comments on the rear end selection and/or the tranny are appreciated. A solid 58 for $250? Sounds like a steal!
Unless you're planning a real torque monster I would leave the frame as is,assuming it's in good solid condition.
Some of them did come with V8s from the factory after all.
Try asking your questions regarding the engine/trans combo in the drivetrain or Hipo section,some of the engine gurus don't look in here.
