Yup, went to the FLAPS, Irish version, picked up several sizes from the aisle that has all the common replacement parts (window cranks, lock knobs, etc.) and one of them fit and worked just fine.

Are these like the ones used on your '46? If it makes any difference, new adjusting screws have Phillips heads instead of slotted. The flat adjusting nuts are used on my '54. One was metal, the others were aftermarket nylon. The larger one with tabs is wrong.

Available from The Truck Shop, Classic Parts, and The Filling Station. Search "Headlight" or "Headlight Adjuster." I bought screws and nuts from one of them, but forgot which. Call to confirm the style of adjusting nut if you need the nuts, too.

Hey Lonnie --- Nope. I checked out several of the usual vendors including all of the above but found nothing that resembles what came out of mine. They have a funky stamped metal threaded piece that fits in a fixed retainer built into the buckets. I can likely adapt something like a nylon piece but was hoping to avoid buying 16 pair before finding one that works for sure.

I believe the part you are looking for is
Group 2.737
Part #5930896

They were also used in '41-'48 Olds, except 1948 98

(there were some on Ebay)

Google says that this site has part #5930896. May have to scroll through a lot. EDIT - I looked at the site. Don't believe it has the part.

Sorry about the ebay link, Cletis. What is an admissible way to tell a 'Bolter about an item on ebay that he needs in a way that he can find it?

You can mention "Search Ebay". That way when someone finds this thread on a search a year from now he won't get a dead link.

BTW...also sheared off two out of the three very unique stovebolts that hold the buckets onto the fenders. Now..exactly what was it about rebuilding these old farts was supposed to be fun?

I understand the reasoning, Cletis. I sent a PM to Tango about the listing.

Scored! Many thanks to Lonnie & all the good Stovebolt folks here. Who'da thunk to look for Buick parts? I guess I really need to find a GM parts interchange. Thanks again.

Glad to help. Thanks for the PM.

I found the part without an official cross reference book. Looked up the part number in the MPC. Checked the number at The Buick Farm first, but no results. Then Googled "GM 5930896" and started finding clues, plus the ebay listing.

Well Crap-O!!!...ordered the adjusters from Ebay, then three days later I'm told they are "out of stock"...don't have any more! Nada. Back to the hunt I guess.
