There are other ways to get more power out of a 250, pick up the Chevy Inline Power Manual for ideas. Pistons that aren't designed for running something horrid like 83 octane gas help a lot, as do upgraded cams. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 | Haven't done it. I have read that Clifford Engr. at one time had a very expensive kit to do it. There is a lot of machining that will have to go into the block. This project comes up every once in a while. The usual comments are too expensive for what little is to be gained.

They're flattop, while the 250's have a big dish in the piston crown. The head will also take a .050" milling job without getting into piston/valve interference problems. Combine those mods with a somewhat hotter cam, something in the 270 degree duration range, and it makes the 250 come alive. Jerry
