I have a 1951 1 and a half ton truck and i was wondering how do you tell if its a 235 or a 216

Yes, if you can tell us the the Engine Serial Number (ID) that is pressed into a ledge in the block, just to the rear of where the distributor goes into the block.

In addition, the block casting number and the date code from near the starter as well, just in case it isn't the original engine, so that we can have a rough starting point.
