Also, any recommendations on upgrade to engine during the rebuild to get a bit more HP? You can also install a 55 2nd - 62 with an adapter plate to install the original water pump.
Later engines have full - flow oil filters but older blocks can be converted to full flow filration easy enough when torn down.

Like BC59 says there are few minor changes but this engine (261) came stock in the 4400 series which is the same cab with a different front fender. Our fire department still owns a '57 Chevy 5500 with the original 261. We have done some upgrades but it still starts and runs like a champ.
