Hello Everyone, Bought my 1st GMC from a GSA auction recently and now have come to the reality of hauling it home. It is a 1953 450 conventional cab tractor that doesn't run. I love old trucks so I fell for it. I have searched the web for other trucks like it but so far found none. Is there a Chevrolet that is the same size?

If someone can post the curb weight for this truck it would be very much appreciated. What I can find out about the truck is it has the 137" wheelbase with a single dual wheel rearend and 302 engine. Thanks

Welcome to one of the best sites for old trucks. I have found everyone to be extremely friendly and helpful!! So what part of the wet part of Oregon are you? There are several of us all around God's Country and hopefully not rusting smile Do you have pictures? Welcome

The only pictures I have are from the auction site and I haven't looked into posting pictures. Looks like they have to be hosted somewhere.

I haven't even seen the truck in person yet. I haven't broke the news to my family yet either. My boys think I'm a truck crazy dog already.

I live in the Stafford area, we get the same weather as Mac. I consider the cascades the dividing line between wet and dry/green and brown, but I like the dry weather east of the mountains. Might move over there someday.

Thanks for the welcome

welcome to the shops k9, you'll find some info in the Chevy resto pack here, and other info on that site - although mostly Chev, it'll be close to GMC in most respects - also be aware of the OldGMCtrucks site forum

Thanks for the ideas red58. From what I'm finding Chevrolet didn't make a truck the size of the 450. Is this right?

not sure about specific years offerings but Chev made tractors, conventional, cab over and tandems - Chevs above the 6500 series will be less common, but there might be some in the gallery here

I haven't seen anything over 6500. 2 ton was the biggest I can find. Thought maybe only GMC made anything over that.
