On my '65 C20 the only rot on the grille is on the ends which curve around the headlights (they look like parenthesis). These look like separate pieces which could be replaced but I have never seen them sold separately in LMC. Does anyone know if this is the case and if so what they are called?

Can you take a photo of what you are talking about? If you get a photo shoot me an email and I will try to help.

The grille shell is one piece. The bezel attach to the face of the grille shell and the mounting brackets, buckets, trim rings & headlights are attached behind the grille sheel, via 4 rivets. There are no replacement parts for the grille shell, itself. In lieu of trying to cut out the rust, weld in new metal, top-dress the repair, prep, prime & paint, it would be more economical to replace the grille shell. Check craigs list or the Truck Parts For Sale forum here and post an ad on the Truck Parts Wanted forum on this site.

We have them also, but the shipping will be as much as the grille shell.

Thanks Tony. I think maybe what I am referring to is really part of the fender. I have seen some fenders on Ebay with this part attached.

I got to thinking about you decription and was wondering about that. It looks like a separate peice but is actually spot welded to the fender. It would be available from LMC or one of the other parts catalogs as part of the front half fender replacement piece. Hope this helps Lyle

Yes the surround area that "frames" the grille is a 3 piece affair. The upper and lower are all part of the grille support panel, and the right and left are part of the fender.

Here is a link to a diagram that should help: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cbe/full.aspx?Page=19

The transition of the front fender, to the grille support, is all part of the front fender. Likewise with the area, it touches, at the grille support, is part of the grille support, itself. I don't recall, off-hand, if the front fender half patch panel, includes the depressed area, that meets the grille support.

Thank you Lyle, John, and Tony. From what you all say maybe it would be easier to repair the rust areas on these parts with some fiberglass. It is just difficult to reach in there next to the headlight to work on it.
