The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline spring axle pads on 34 chevy,

The truck i am working on was raised in the back by flipping the spring pads up on top of the axle. I am lowering back to original but am wondering if they have to be flopped end for end or from side to side as the leaf springs are not parrallel to the axle so I am thinking they may be at an incorrect angle. I have flopped them down now but not sure if they are askew or not. The springs seems pretty close to their correct position to bolt up but maybe they are forced into position--don't know. any help appreciated as i have not done this before,----dave

lol read the back story on your 34... some ppl have all the luck lol but i have a 37 and the spings sit top of the spring like your wanting i can try to mail you some pic's of the stock rear setup "before i scrap it" i am going with a camero or TA rear .. if i can ever locate one at the right price

Well maybe they are already in the right place. Thing is, My other truck has the pads under the axle. could possibly be a later model chassis but seems the same as my other ,34. Would appreciate any pics for sure. Not sure if you got what i meant about the leaves not being parralel. That is , they don't run perfectly fore and aft but angle in at the front thus i am thinking if I have flopped the pad underneath it wouold reverse any angle the pad may have had. not sure if I am explaining it very well.----dave

my old 39 had the axle under the springs my current 37 has them over the springs read on one of the posts its pretty much the difference weather is 1/2ton or 3/4ton
