I have a 61 with a 235. The posts I've read on this site says a carter 2100s will work on this engine. But when I went to put it on, the bolt holes are wrong. The original Rochester holes are 2 15/16 OC and the Carters' are 2 11/16 OC. Did some 2100's come with different bases? I'm out a bit of money now if I can't make this work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Carter 2100s came only with the size 3 (2 15/16 c-c) throttle body; but Dr. Goodpliers (the evil twin of Mr. Goodwrench) has been known to make modifications that often do not work, and then offer their mistakes for sale.

Are the throttle bodies interchangeable? It doesn't appear to be modified in any way. Could I maybe pick up a size 3 somewhere and it will screw right on?

If you can find one from a 2100s, yes. Otherwise, probably not.

I have a carter 2100 on my 52 216. Smaller bolt pattern and not the correct carb for a 235.

According to Jon's very complete list of Carter YF carburetors produced for use on
Chevrolets the; 2100s was an aftermarket manual choke for use on a 235 engine
1953~1956. So an unmolested 2100s is the correct carb for a 235 Chevy.

As Jon said, you’ve got a carburetor that was backyard engineered and the seller unloaded
it on you. In other words, someone swapped the bases from an earlier YF somewhere
back in the day so they could use it on a 216.
