Hi I live in Canada but the 58 I bought came from Dakota. Is there any way to find out how many trucks of a certain model were made that year and which number it was off the line

no .... the sequence numbers started with 001001 at each plant, so the number in your vin indicates where it was in the line of all models of trucks made at that plant beginning to end - just gives you a rough indication of early or late production

So if my vin is over 100,000. Do you mean there was over 100,000 58's built at that plant alone. And if so does anybody have a rough idea of how many in total were made in the us and/or Canada. Even a ballpark #

my mistake - 55.2 started 001001, 56-59 started 100001 - John Gunnell's book Chevrolet Pickups '46-'72 says there were 278,615 commercial vehicles made in '58 - no telling how many at any given plant, but not all plants produced trucks .... I've never seen any figures for Canadian production at all, but by the Task Force years there was only one plant, Oshawa
