Hello everyone!

I live in rural TN, so completely, rusted-out, field-dwelling automobiles are a common find. Every now and then, one can come across a well-preserved vehicle such as this truck. Needless to say, my wife and I are very excited to restore this old fella back to his former glory.

The Truck:
I found this truck in a Facebook sales post (A friend selling for a friend) I jumped on it quickly knowing that I could either fix it up to drive fairly inexpensively, or flip it for a little profit. The man selling it had acquired it from his father's estate and wanted to get rid of it ASAP. His father had been working to restore it over the past few years, until he became ill. It has new window channels and felts, and the original 235 babbit has been recently rebuilt. It is a 1950 Chevrolet 4100, with a few great RPOs. It has the stake bed, pto operated dump bed, auxiliary leafs on rear springs, 3 piece rims, and an Allstate heater on the passenger side(not sure if this was a RPO or not). It seems to have been a farm truck its entire life, and has been kept in a barn for most, if not all, of its life. It looks to have the original seat cover and the rubber pedal pads seem to have minimal wear, which also leads me to believe the 25,000 miles on the odometer is correct. I have not ran it yet, though the fellow I bought it from says he ran it a few weeks back. I want to ensure the brakes are working properly, first. Haha

Anyways, my plans are to rebuild/ restore it originally. Not necessarily for car show purposes, but for longevity. I have always been a fan of ORIGINAL cars. Not that I do not appreciate hot rods/ resto mods, I just personally prefer originality in older cars. This site will definitely be a huge blessing when I get stuck or stumped with anything.

Welcome to the Bolt,Justin. I'm glad to see you have rescued another warrior from times gone by. Your a lucky man in that is is a really nice looking truck just the way it is. I am a lover of the dual wheel short stake bed. Once day, sometime, I'm going to have me one of those to haul my junk around on.
Thank you for the pics. Let us know how we can be of help.

Welcome Justin, nice looking truck for sure. This site has many sub-forums, including one for 'big bolts'. Lots of knowledge on those forums. I also tend to like the original style rebuilds. Is this truck going to earn its keep?

Thanks, Achipmunk.

Leo, It will definitely earn its keep this summer.

I have done nearly all of my research on this truck here on the Bolt. It has already been QUITE helpful.

Thanks fellas! I'm currently replacing the entire fuel system (new lines, linkage, pump, sending unit, and rebuilding the carb). Hoping to have her running like a champ this weekend.
