Hello Group,
I am currently building a 1929 Chevrolet International Woodie. My Uncle gave it to me many years ago. I tore it apart back then and I am now finacially ready to finish rebuilding it. He told me it looked very similar to Russ Rocknak's '29 Woodie that is posted on here but mine was originally a 2-door not a 4-door. Does anyone on here have any pictures or know where I can find some pictures of a 2-door like mine? It will be a custom build as the frame was rotted out when I got it so I built a custom chassis for it. I know it had a Fisher body because of the style cowl it has. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Stevos29, welcome to the site. Wow, that's quite an old one. Do you have the stovebolt six in it? I believe 1929 was the first year for those.

You likely won't get too much helpful feedback on your question here in the welcome center, try 'general truck'.

Good luck with putting her back together.

I have a 29 Chevy two door, Chevrolet called it a coach, infact that is what it says on the registration my car was bought new by my father's uncle he drove it for 30 years. The VCCA is a good place to find pictures and information

Stevos29, welcome to the Stovebolt. For me you have a rare truck. I can't say I've ever seen one so if you can post a couple pics we'd appreciate a view of what is sure to be a joy to drive and ride.
Like Leo pointed out, try to post the questions in the most appropiate forum for the most answers and responses.
See ya around the garage.

I see your from Ga. How far are you from Spartanburg? We are having our 5th Stovebolt Reunion April the 28th so your invited.

Let me know if its OK and I'll add you to my Southern Stovebolt list and send you some info about the reunions.......and you can check us out in the Side Lot forums.......Alvin

I am a member of VCCA and have gotten quite a bit of info over there. Thats how I found out my Chevy was built on a "Light Duty" truck frame(cause the fuel tank is under the front seat). I noticed the '29 Chevy International Woodie pictures posted on this site so figured I could get some more info about mine here. My Uncle says mine looked almost exactly like that one but a 2-door. Yes this was the first year of the stovebolt 6, unfortunetly I do not have any of the original drivetrain. I constructed a custom chassis by using the original frame rails from about the cowl foward (only section without cancer, guess all the engine oil, etc. saved it). I had flat steel bent to the same size as the original frame rails and then used the back section of a S-10 pickup frame. The front suspension is mustang II. Worked out very nicely. I am using a Chevy 350 engine with a 700R4 tranny. Still trying to decide if I am going fenderless or not. I am not currently in Georgia as I am in the military and curently stationed in Kansas. Alvin, I will not be able to make the meet in Spartanburg however I would like to be added to the southern stovebolt list. My current project may not have the old stovebolt in it but I do plan on buying as many of these old Chevys as I can get my hands on and that my wallet can afford. I have land in southwest Georgia that I will soon be putting a steel building on to store the cars/trucks I aquire until I get out of the military. At that time I plan on restoring them all and selling them so more fans of these old Chevys can aquire them in running condition. Thank you all for your help, it is greatly appreciated

...and thank YOU for serving our country. I'll send you a copy of the last Southern Stovebolt letter I sent out about the upcoming reunion.
Sounds like a plan on storing some chevys. Nothing like it.

I like the 350/700R4 combo when you don't have all the other stuff. I run same combo in my 37. Works nice.
I usually tell folks I don't restore, I have to resurrect them!!!

Welcome to the 'bolt soldier. I, too like the looks of old iron, but the running gear lacks a lot. I have two 1932 Chevrolets and both have late (1960's and 1970's) engines, trans, brakes etc. I used 292 engines since they are 6 cylinders and kind of look right in these cars.

Good news, Last night while surfing/searching the web I found a picture of a 3-door (guess they add the tailgate as the 3rd door)'29 Chevy Woodie like mine. It even has a "Military Tribute Theme" to it, very cool. I opened a Photobucket account and uploaded all my pictures there. I seperated them into three albums. One has pictures of my build, one has pictures of different body configurations I did in MS Paint and the other has pictures of original bodied '29 Chevy Woodies I have found on the net. My username is "steeresouth". They are all pubilc folders and everyone here is welcome and encouraged to go check them out. Thank you all so much for your help and support.
