Also, depending on what year Camaro or Thunderbird, they may not work at all, as they later ('80s and up) rely on the body for the upper suspension mounting.

There was a kit for my truck from Total Cost Involved. You might want to shop around and see what other companies has to offer for your truck. My IFS and rear set me back $ but after I got it, it kept me busy for a while. my IFS and 4 link rear. I've never been a fan of cut 'n' shut chassis. JMO
There's a huge choice of aftermarket IFS' available.
The only real factor is the depth of your wallet,you also need to consider what you want from your truck regarding load capacity.
If you're just looking for a cool old truck to scoot around in fine,but if you want to work it,personally I would stick with and rebuild what's there,with upgrades to the brakes etc..

In summary here's what you want to consider before making any IFS swap:
(1) your fabrication and welding skills?
(2) how do you plan to use the truck. Recreational vs. work ?
