On my truck I removed the steering column as a unit. Unbolted it and dropped it forward. On the brake pedal, it comes straight out, it is a splined shaft. The nut on the bottom hold it on. The Factory Assembly manual has good pictures on how all this went together and is a great help in disassembly. I can't help on the floor shifter, mine is a column shift.

x2 what Kenny said on the column and brake pedal. The steering column doesn't come out of the gearbox so take off the steering wheel, unbolt gearbox and drop out. Mine is a 4spd floor shift, I used my 2 post lift to raise the cab then rolled the chassis out from under it with the shifter still in place. If you don't have the option of lifting the cab that high maybe you could drop the trans out from underneath. Be careful, that trans is VERY heavy!

Thanks, very helpful. I found also that shifter comes out after pushing down on [censored] dust cap at base and rotate 1/8 ccw it pulls out.
