Can anyone tell me who makes a replacement air filter element for the Chevy dry element air filters used in the late 40s early 50s pickups? I have the original metal mesh one but it is in pretty rough shape and hoped that I could get a similar sized paper replacement for it.

if you are interested in a K&N filter - i know people worry about their effectiveness, but how could they be worse than mesh? - i found this really useful link that let's you input diameter and height of the air filter element you want, and get filters that fit in return.. check it out:

filters by dimension

Give this site a look. It sounds easy to make your own. I have not tried it yet but plan on doing so.
