Former owners of a Calif. state park operated a 1 1/2 ton dump truck which we'd like to research. I'd like to know year, model, engine hp, etc. Late 30s perhaps? Here's a photo:

Hy Kneebone, welcome, I believe the parklights on the tops of the fenders denote a 1940 model, hope that helps.

click on Show next to "Chevrolet Trucks" and you can download a PDF that'll tell you all about the model details

Thanks to all who responded. In less than a day, all my questions were answered! Thanks especially to Bill who copied the link to the specifications.
Over the BigBolt in my photo you'll see the word "SHELL." Our vol. group recently restored this gas station at South Yuba River State Park. Photo link below.

Actually, I do have another question. Anyone know where I can get a scale model of a 1 1/2T Big Bolt? I'd also like a 1939 sedan model as well.

Brickman, the truck isn't around that we know of. Meeting a descendant of the truck owner this week and will ask.

kneebone: Check out Hemmings Motor News for the scale model. They had an ad somewhat recently, maybe July or August in one of their magazines for a 40/41 flatbed wrecker. I almost ordered it because it was so cool looking.

I was thinking my dump bed was from a later model truck. Looking at the photo of this '40, mine looks a lot like it. On mine, though has a oval opening in the support web of the bed, and a spring clip on the rear one for holding a shovel on either side. On the pivot connecting the bed to the frame, it says 'Wood' on the casting. Also, the PTO knob says 'Chelsea', but I'm almost sure that's not correct.
