I have a 48 chevy 2 ton with worn brake shoes. Anyone know where to get new lining material? They are 3" X 18-1/2" riveted.

Hy bens48bigbolt, you might have a big truck shop in your area that could put you in touch with a shop that can reline your shoes for you.

There is a place in Denver that knows what you are talking about and has done several for me and others, clutches and brakes: Clutch Exchange.

Depending where in Idaho you are. Look for a Six States or hit up the big truck shops for their suppliers of relined brake shoes.

I need to be a little more specific.....I'm trying to find s source for just the lining. I can have them lined locally to the tune of $265.00 per wheel. That's way to costly. J C Whitney has shoes for a '48 truck for $64.00, but I don't think they will fit my 2 ton.

Are you saying your local BIG truck brake/clutch shop wants $132.50 per shoe? I haven't had shoes done in years, but that sounds WAY high to me.

Maybe you need to look for a shop in one of the BIG cities and send them out. Have you taken a shoe to NAPA to compare it to the pictures of all the brake shoes in their books?

Wow... that is way too high. I can't remember how much I paid, but I went to D.V. Aldus in Vancouver, BC and I bet it couldn't have been more than a couple of hundred at the most or I would have remembered. I know it's not close to you, but here is their contact info.

That's exactly what I'm saying. The store manager punched on his hand held calculator for ten minutes. I felt like telling him that's way too much figgerin' for 2 shoes and a hand full of rivets. When I pulled my jaw off the counter, I said that's way too much and grabbed my shoes and ran out the door.
Our local Napa store couldn't help their books don't go back farther than 1986. We have a "Page Brake" warehouse here but they only wanted to send them out for $50.00 plus per wheel. I know I can do them myself cheaper than that if I could just find someone to supply just the lining. The normal responses I've gotten is "good luck with that".

Search "brake lining" First page has a vendor that will cut linings to size for you.

Found brake shoe linings on Ebay. $65.00 plus shipping. That, I can live with.

PS Hotrod Lincoln, never found where you were talking about on Epay. Every site I saw for Epay had to do with paying bills or paying for purchases.

Sorry 'bout that- - - - -That's a joke a lot of us use when referring to E-bay. Was the ad you found from the guy who custom-cuts the lining to order? If so, that's the one I was referring to.

I had mine done with Page Brake; I dropped them off at one of their locations in Utah where they sent them off to Salt Lake for relining. They have locations in Pocatello and Twin Falls, don't know if that's close. Paid $25 a shoe for 2-1/2" x 14".

I kinda wondered that. That was a good joke. I searched several epay sites.
These shoe linings were from Fannaly and appeared to be in original box.
Dave51 chev- I'm not too inpressed with our Page Brake here in Pocatello, his quote was for $40 to $50 per wheel. My 2 ton's brake lining is 3" X 18" but shouldn't cost that much more.
If these for Ebay are the right ones I'll be a happy camper.

I didn't think it was too bad. $25/shoe, 2shoes/wheel = ~$50/wheel. It was a cheaper alternative to finding new shoes. There may be other big truck shops with better quotes. Keep looking around.
