Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 71 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 71 | Hello, I've recently finished re-wiring my 59 Chevy with a reproduction harness from Classic Parts. I have run into three hiccups:
1) With a fully charged battery, the ammeter always reads halfway between D and the middle. Immediately after start, and after a 15 mile drive. I have a 235 with a rebuilt internally regulated alternator. The battery is a couple months old, and even with running it for 25 minutes it still has the juice to turn the truck over. Any ideas?
2) The right tail light is pretty dim, and doesn't shine as brightly as the driver's taillight when the brake is applied. The light has two wires, black and white. I'm thinking maybe a bad ground? Do I need to sand off the paint where the light bolts to the truck?
3) I can't get the gas gauge to work. Can anyone tell me how many wires should be hooked up to the sending unit? There were two, but the kit only came with one. It connects to the Full side of the gauge.
Thanks for the help,
Vince

I just made up my own wire to ground it. Darren. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 239 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 239 |
1. Switch the wires on the ammeter. 2. Try switching the wires. If that does not work then your though about the ground is probably correct. 3. The sending unit needs to be grounded to work (the second wire).
