Hi all and Happy New Year...I just acquired a very nice 46 3/4 ton pickup that had a frame off restoration done and I am trying to finished little details...the horn now on it is a twin trumpet style mounted to a heavy bar across the top hood support bars. I was wondering if they are the originals or is the "mushroom shape" Bull Horn the original, if so was it bolted to the intake manifold, in front of the carb? The system is all 6 volt still. John

Pictures? It sounds to me like someone put a pair of what started out as "accessory horns" and later became "town and country" horns on the truck. I doubt the truck came from the factory with them installed but they could have been installed by the dealer, the owner when new or anyone since. Do they look like these? These are accessory horns that were dealer installed on my '38 coupe. They are MIGHTY loud for 6v horns. grin

I have same exact set as Tiny on my 46, pulled off a 2 ton rig, along with BIG radiator and fan shroud.

Mine aren't black??? They were when I painted them. grin I'm curious as to what color they appear on your monitor. This is an excellent example of why you don't use ANY color appearing on a computer monitor as an exact representation of a true color. Depending on the monitor, drivers and settings, the colors displayed can vary greatly.

I think the original horn was a single small, blunt trumpet mounted on the intake. The intake had provisions for it. One of my trucks has this and the other twin bull horns above the starter on the firewall, they look like they were added later, since the wires were clipped by the intake.

Tiny...yours look black at first glance, but after a closer look they look like they could be clear silver/grey...your right, it is hard to tell colors on a monitor...
