I have a 53 5 Window I am putting bucket seats in. I would like to build a custom console. Anyone know of a kit or website I could get ideas from? Kinda new to this, so I thought I would ask. Thinking of forming fiberglass or something similar.

one of the easyest ways i have found to do console is to make your deck/top of console from wood with wire to prop it it to the height you like once you have it were you like it and ect if your going with metal use duct tape between the sides of the deck and floor on each side remove and transfer that to a steel patern, if your going fiberglass use some panty hose material over the deck and stretch it to the floor and secure it "good for non standard curves, then you can glass right on the panty hose to set the shape and reinforce it after you have the shape set pretty much the way you would make custom speaker boxes but be warn fiberglass in a daily driver won't hold up the same as metal

I have the same issue on my '57. With the buckets mounted, there is now a large space between the seats. I chose buckets because of the floor shift conversion (I needed space between the seats for the shifter). However, the four-wheel drive lever is now in the way of the passenger's feet placement. I"ll probably bend the four wheel drive lever to solve that problem. For the console my first option is to go to eBay or Criagslist and modify an existing one. If there are other options, I'd also be interested in exploring them.

I went to our local junkyard and found a console that had the configuration I wanted; a sloped front end to clear the floor shifter, high back end, and multiple cup holders and bins. Unfortunately it was too long. Taking a chance I purchased it anyway. I sectioned out eight inches from the middle (it is all plastic) and re-joined it mechanically and then with epoxy, filled in a few spots with filler and then painted it. I made mounts for the console on the sub-frame I built for the seats, and will attach the console to it. I think it looks good, very functional, and it only cost $16.
