Does anyone have ideas on sound proofing the cab of the advance design 1947 cab not that I want a no noise ride, but just quiet enough so my wife doesn't threaten to use ear plugs. (wait maybe that's not bad)

Just the standard HushMat, Eastwood or Dynamat. You can use the sound deadener with heat shield or without. There are off brands that are cheaper, but you need to look at each brand and compare.

I used Fatmat (if you buy it without the logo its about a third less look on ebay) easy to install you just cut to fit, it already has adheasive on the back. I recommed you use a blow dryer to warm up both surfaces before adhearing. I even used it under the headliner trust me helps. Good luck, its worth the time and effort.

There is a roof flashing material at Home Depot and Lowes that is a lot less expensive than the Dynamat and is very similar but abot 50% thiner.

Lizard skin gets mixed with paint, amounts to small (micro) glass spheres that provide small air pockets within the paint, for both heat and noise reduction. (Small enough to pass through a paint gun) McMaster Carr also sells glass micro spheres at about $20 for a 2 qt size. Should be more than enough for your cab and inner doors.

Doing my research I found there are hollow balloons and solid spheres as well as other options and they are common ingrediants in paints and other products, used as filler.
They are used in fiber glass a lot as filler and can be found at marine supply shops.
Some guys like to do it themselves and mix the balloons in a latex paint from the discount shelf. I chose traffic striping paint for its titanium content which was evident when lifting it from the shelf, reasoning density helps reduce sound.
I think the gal of micro was about $25 and the paint was $20, they covered inside the doors, and cab (everywhere a brush could reach) with 3 coats (dried between each)
A roll of 2 sided foil over bubble wrap 60"x50' was $50 at HD and was enough for 2 layers on the floor annd firewall with 1 layer in the doors and headliner. A roll of heat tape was $7 and I have 1/2 a roll left over.
I probably went over on what was needed but didn't have a need for left overs so I used it all up and the price seemed right for a Cheap A$$ Stovebolt Owner like me

Thanks I haven't settled on an answer yet though cost is a big factor and can I do it myself. I have alot of hand sanding to do inside before I'm even ready to paint but am starting that process this week. I have the seat frame sanded primed and going to paint today. I use rusteulem cans that's just the kinda guy I am. I build cedar strip canoes and the one thing I've learned is except for another canoe builder no one sees the flaws but me. The canoes I build all look good in the water or on the truck from and stone's throw.

OK Wildone, here's the way it works around here. We start our projects and from time to time (some more than others) we check in here at the Stovebolt to get some answers about stuff we need to know. When we do, we find that the pictures the guys have taken are most helpful in answering our questions. You will find the most important part of what you are doing is the pictures you take of the before, during, and after. These pictures will come in handy as you try to rebuild your project. If you post them here (through Photobucket or Webshots or other sites) others can take advantage of your successes or failures. It's called share and share alike.
However if you are over the age of 55 you might be like some of the "ole fogees here who don't know how to take pictures or if they do they don't know how to post them here. If that is the case don't worry about it. Just enjoy your stay. And by the way, welcome to the Bolt.

Thanks I'll start takin' pics but I haven't set up that photobucket account yet. But after looking at your pics I see I"m out gunned. I just have an old farm truck that I'm trying to keep in use for now and for my grand kids (oldest one will have a driver's license in 3 years)

I used this stuff ...click...

Its not very thick but works well. with one roll I was able to do the
...roof...
...fire wall...
...small area behind tank...
...a few left over strips in the doors...

then a jute pad and abs firewall cover from classic parts.
...click...

..jute pad for floor...

...then rubber floor mat...

Im happy with the results, I dont have a sound system, and that product above may not be good for that.
I still get enough of that old pick up sound I remember as a kid.
