I am going to weld new stake pockets on a sandblasted bed. I plan on plug welding it with a mig welder. I've been told to use weld thru primer, but also been told that I should prime everything with epoxy primer, drill holes for my plug welds, clean primer underneath my plug weld with a flat drill bit and then weld. I am just trying to keep rust from forming between panels where I can't get paint to once its welded. Thanks,
Josh

What you've been told sounds like what I'd do to me.
