I am looking for a transmission adapter to put a T5 transmission in my '46 truck. I am using a '57 235 with '46 bellhousing, etc. Does anyone know where I can find an adapter?

Do you need one?
I thought the SM420 would fit the older bell housings, and a t5 fits anywhere a sm420 fits?

Buckeye...
Look in the tech tips as there is an article that outlines one way to do it with an adapter plate. You could also get a bellhousing from a 48-53 truck that has had something welded to it to mount your clutch and brake pedal. I had an adapter plate made locally for my transmission swap in my 1940 gmc. It was a bit spendy.

Look up Buffalo Enterprises as he has made seeveral of those adapters for that swap.

Using an adapter should eliminate the necessity of lengthening the the transmission splines and shortening the input shaft so that you can replace the transmission at a later date without having to modify it.

Buckeye - You can get an adaptor plate from Buffalo. I don't have the phone no. right now but you can do a search here and find it easily.

I used one from buffalo on my T5 transplant. It worked great. Around $140

Good Luck

Thank you all for the help. I will give Buffalo Enterprises a call.

Your help sure makes this project a whole lot easier. I may be back with more questions later. When I finish my '46, I've got a '50 COE to work on.
Thanks again

But does that adapter have mounts for your pedals to bolt to? I looked at their page but couldn’t see any item pictures. Anyone seen one ? sure would be sweet.

With an adapter, you use your original bellhousing, which already has the pedal mounts. Or did I miss something?
