It sounds OK, as long as it doesn't drop noticeably at hot idle. The pressure will also vary a little with the type of oil you're running. Multi-weights such as 5W-30 or 10W-30 will run slightly lower pressure than straight-weight oils such as 20 or 30 weight. They stay at the physical thickness of their low-viscosity rating all the time, even though they lubricate like the higher specification when hot. Jerry

In the 261s that I have had, the pressure on the gauge showed steady pressures no matter the temperature or oil I used. I'd expect that to be the case on a newly rebuilt engine that has a good oil pump.
The pressure-release setting produced a reading of 30 psi on one engine and 40 psi on another engine. I think that people have reported a reading of 45 psi on their engines. This variation in settings could be due to different release-valve (spring?) settings in the oil pumps or mis-calibrated oil pressure gauges.
I'd be concerned if the oil pressure reduced below the normal setting - at lower RPM or at higher temperature.
