My shop manual says I am missing the hub cover assembly which mounts between the steering wheel and the steering column. Does anyone know where I can get that part? None of the part vendors I have checked carry it. Any suggestions?

On pic #22 I noticed there is a gap between your steering wheel and the column. That is what has me confused. I thought there was a collar to hide that gap which is what I thought the hub cover assy covered on your pic # 17. What is correct? Thanks.

The gap in the pic is there because the nut is not installed yet.
Sorry for the confusion. I added the factory assembly manual pic in that folder for a member who has a 54

If the truck was not ordered with turn signals it got the "cover assembly" in pic.
If turn signals were ordered there would be a switch mounted to the top of the column filling this space.
Up through 1953 the steering wheel just comes down close to the top of the column, that's all.
